Hello and welcome back to the Thoughts that Bind. Today, I really wanted to talk about potential. We’re all seemingly obsessed with it, and I’m not convinced it’s for our good.

Hello and welcome to the Thoughts that Bind! And if you’re returning, welcome back! Thanks for checking back in with me. Today’s post is going to be short and sweet. I just wanted to affirm for you how awesome you are. And yes, this is an urgent matter. Perhaps the most urgent thing you could possibly give your attention to right now. Because sometimes, we forget.

I love self-improvement, reflection and personal development. I read books, write in journals, talk to others and even meditate for guidance. And all these things are great. Really. It’s good to be looking for perspective in life and to value that perspective coming from all different sorts of places. But I bet you don’t need it as much as you think you do.
Learning to respect silence
In life, we have all sorts of things that we’re pursuing at any given time, and they all fight for our attention in our heads. We think we have to keep up, and so we try to keep track of our opinions, thoughts and ideas. We think this brings us great productivity, and you know what? Maybe we’re right. But it doesn’t bring us everything in life.

It’s getting to be that time where we start talking about “the holidays”. And you know what that means. Pretty soon, everyone’s going to be talking about New Year’s resolutions and “new year new me” and all sorts of things about bettering yourself. Things that this website seems to talk about all the time. You’d think that I’d be excited about it, but really, as usual, I’m kind of frustrated.
